Fundraiser invite to Masque Theatre's "The Odd Couple"

The Peninsula Canoe Club hosting gala evening at the Masque Theatre for the show 'The Odd Couple' on Wednesday 25th July (tomorrow night!). Proceeds go twoards the repair/replacement of the clubhouse roof. It is the very same clubhouse IYC use and is in desperate need of repair.

Many people will remember the performances of Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon as the unforgettable mismatched roommates, Oscar and Felix, in Neil Simon’s hilarious comedy ‘The Odd Couple’.
In 1985 Simon responded to the continued popularity of his odd pair by writing the female version. Not Oscar but Olive, not Felix but Florence are the wildly incompatible pair. Instead of the poker party that begins the original version, Olive has invited the girls over for their weekly session of Trivial Pursuit. What with Florence’s angst and neuroses, and Olive’s irritating sloppiness, this is one very funny play.
Comprising a cast of eight, this Claremont Dramatic Society presentation is directed by Sheldon Cross – a drama graduate of both Stellenbosch and Cape Town Universities.

Part of Coleen Van Staden's reviewed from The Monday Missile
" ... Timing was excellent, delivery was great and their Spanish to die for! Neil Simon went to town in this scene and takes the mickey out of wooing,  first dates, language barriers, cultural differences, marriage, children and burnt capon! It would have been tempting for many actors to go completely over the top in this, but Clifford Graham and Gary Green were completely natural and credible as the two, which is the way situation comedy should be played. ..."
The tickets are R85 a head which includes your seat in the theatre, as well as snacks and drinks before the show and at the interval as well as the opportunity to win prizes in the lucky draw that will take place at the interval.
