Imperial Yacht Club entered a team under the name of IYC Air force on Neville Kings Bosun. We had a team of 6 with 1 reserve, but all had a sail.

The IYC team came 3rd overall in the Bosun class out of 7 Bosuns, and 21st out 36 in the total fleet (Bosuns, Sonnets, Enterprises, Mirrors and Fireballs).

The wind conditions were varied starting from strong to medium to virtually nothing in the early hours and then picking up again during the last hours. It was challenging sailing at night trying to find the wind shifts and wind directions, trying to fly the spinnaker, and not pranging into other boats
They then added an extra hour to make it a 25 hour event as the sponsor was Bar One – to have a 25 hour day and about 24 crews sailed the extra hour to try win the Bar One trophy and prize.

This was a fantastic event and more IYC members are encouraged to take part in next year. It would be good for next year to have a senior and junior team - the seniors on the Bosun and the Juniors on a Sonnet. The Juniors felt the Bosun was a bit slow for them, much like the duck, but more comfortable.
