Pasella (the Afrikaans version of Top Billing),   is doing a short SABC TV2 feature on Muizenberg, part of which will focus on our club, being the oldest sailing club in SA.

They will be filming at IYC on Monday 17 Oct from 16h00 to 18h00.

The filmshoot will cover  visual footage of the club and as many sailing boats as we can muster on the water, and the idea is for the presenter to be introduced to our sailors and then to be taken for a short race against a fleet of IYC boats, in front of the clubhouse. There will be a film crew on the water  as well as on land. They have asked us to assist by providing as many boats as possible,  of as many classes as we can put together, including Mirrors (they like a red sail or two amongst the group), Sonnets, Dabbies, Lasers and Oppies and of course, the Duck. They are particularly interested in the Dabbies and Sonnets (being local boats designed by a Capetonian in 1956, as IYC currently has the biggest Dabbie fleet in SA, and we have the EC Champ), but they would also like to emphasise the fact that we have a strong group of junior sailors, so they would also like to have as many Oppies on the water as possible.

I know that for many of our members it will be difficult to take  time off, due to work and school commitments, but this is a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our sailors and to market our club, and also to do a bit of promotion for the Dabbie and Sonnet class. The time was shifted to as late as possible in order to accommodate scholars .

Please could all members who are able to assist kindly confirm same by return e-mail to ASAP, so that we can finalise arrangements.

If you are able to take part please ensure that you are rigged and ready to go  by 15h30.  There will be rescue boats on the water, and I will ask Carol to open the galley
