Yet another very successful National Regatta has been hosted by the Milnerton Aquatic Club. 25 boats, their crew, family, friends and supporters enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and superbly organised event in arguably the most scenic venues in the country. Set against the backdrop of Table Mountain, competition was of the highest order, with 15 races being sailed over 4 days in conditions varying from gentle northwesterly to gusty south-easters.

Most encouraging was to see so many young faces competing, many of whom had just returned from participating in the Youth Nationals, sailed the week before at Midmar.

IYC members Kevin Foreman and Tim Manley came 10th out of a field of 26. Tim is a new student member who has recently joined IYC (also 2009 Dabchick Champion). Jeremy Foreman and Jacques Louw of MAC sailed in John Halls Sonnet and came 16th. This was the first time they sailed a Sonnet and did really well, congratulations! Kevin, Jeremy and Tim camped at MAC.

Lowell Jooste also raced with son Connor as crew. This was his first competitive regatta. He learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed himself as did everybody.

A number of older Sonnet guys were very impressed and gave comments in jest saying there was no respect for elders!

Well done and thank you to all the competitors and organisers.
